While utilizing its deep roster, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team unleashed its offensive fury on the Albion College (MI) Britons on Tuesday night, earning a dominating 15-1 win in non-conference action on Farquhar Field. With eight different goal-scorers, including career-firsts for three of them, the Bulldogs scored early and often en route to the impressive performance.
After sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) stopped Albion's first shot, the Bulldogs responded with eight unanswered goals for a sizeable halftime lead. Senior midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) initiated the offensive outburst, before freshman midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) broke up a Briton clear and immediately fired off another Bulldog goal. She repeated the scoring effort about three minutes later.
Redlands continued to pour on the offense, as junior attack player Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA) found junior midfielder Breanne Rideout (San Diego, CA) in perfect position for the Bulldogs' fourth goal of the game.
After sophomore midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) let loose on back-to-back scores, freshman attack player Kelsey Ruhl (Seattle, WA) notched her inaugural netter in a Bulldog uniform for the Maroon and Gray's 7-0 advantge.
Four minutes later, senior midfielder Sam Keary (Mission Viejo, CA) capped off the impressive first half for the Bulldogs by launching a shot past the Albion goalkeeper.
Redlands successfully held the Britons scoreless during the opening 30 minutes, thanks in part to Egan's two saves but also due to the defensive presence of seniors Grace Martin (Portland, OR), Jessica Jackson (Poway, CA), and Emily Bilenduke (Breckenridge, CO), sophomores Katherine Koehler (Jackson, WY) and Denise Guerrero (Glendale, CA), and freshmen Sarah Guy (Verona, WI) and Alexis Pound (Washington, DC), In addition, the Bulldogs welcomed back senior defender Angelyn Brown (Danville, CA), following her recovery from injuries sustained in a car accident in October.
The Maroon and Gray remained comfortably in control throughout the second half, with senior goalkeeper Izzy Baez (Zionsville, IN) now patrolling the cage. Furthermore, the Bulldogs tacked on seven more goals, with sophomore attack player Lyndsey Ballantyne (Amherst, NH) and freshman attack player Summer Stafford (Littleton, CO) bookending the period with their respective first netters at Redlands.
Overall, Bjorndal finished the night with a team-high five goals, to go along with two draw controls and two ground balls.
Morford added three goals and one assist, while Garrett provided two goals, two assists, six draw controls, and four ground balls. Moll dished out two assists and hauled in two ground balls.
