The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team remained in the win column with an impressive 18-7 triumph of the Royals over the University of Scranton (PA) on Monday night in non-conference action on Farquhar Field. With junior midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) leading the charge, the Bulldogs broke open a five-all tie with 13 unanswered goals to capture the solid win.

After Redlands jumped out to a 4-1 lead, the Royals eventually forced a tie at five apiece with 7:47 left in the first half.

Junior defender Sam Keary (Mission Viejo, CA) snagged the subsequent draw control for the Maroon and Gray. A Royal yellow card set up a successful free-position goal for junior midfielder Ellen Holt (Happy Valley, OR), which in turn opened the offensive flood gates for Redlands.

From here, the Bulldogs unleashed four more scores in the final six minutes of the opening frame to create a solid 10-5 advantage at the end of the first. Garrett found the back of the net on two occasions, while freshman attack players McKenna Tychsen (Park City, UT) and Katy Miele (Rumson, NJ) each fired off a netter for the Bulldogs during this spurt.

Redlands' offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the second stanza, as the squad extended its scoring streak to 13 unanswered goals through the 4:38-mark. Junior attack player Shannon Sunnergren (Livermore, CA), senior midfielder Emily Dalrymple (Snohomish, WA), and sophomore attack player Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA) also joined the scoring spree for the Maroon and Gray.

The Bulldog defense kept the Royals off the scoreboard for nearly 36 consecutive minutes of the game. The dynamic goalkeeping duo of sophomore Gigja Hollyday (Aliso Viejo, CA) and freshman Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) combined for eight saves during the game. Furthermore, freshman defender Jacquelyn Archey (Sammamish, WA) forced two opponent turnovers, as senior defender Robin Taylor (Poway, CA), junior defender Angelyn Brown (Danville, CA), and junior defender Jessica Jackson (Poway, CA) provided excellent defensive pressure on the Royals.

With the game well in hand for the Bulldogs, Scranton halted its scoring drought with two late goals, resulting in the U of R's impressive 18-7 win.

Overall, Garrett finished the contest with seven goals, one assist, and four draw controls, while Dalrymple, Moll, and Tychsen each netted two goals or more in the victory. Freshman midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) also grabbed four draw controls.

As a team, the Maroon and Gray won nearly every statistical battle, especially clears with an 18-for-21 performance, as compared to the Royals' 16-for-23 showing. In addition, the Bulldogs pulled in 15 draw controls, with Scranton nabbing 11.

Redlands (4-3) continues non-conference action on Wednesday, March 18, when it takes on SUNY New Paltz on Farquhar Field at 7 p.m. during ALS Awareness Night.
