Redlands Women's Lacrosse Advances to NCAA Championships as Host of Second-Round Match against Pomona-Pitzer

For the fourth year in a row, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team heads to the NCAA Division III Championships with a Pool-B bid.  On the heels of their third-consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship, the Bulldogs look forward to enjoying a first-round bye before hosting familiar foe, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, in Saturday's match-up on Farquhar Field at 7 p.m.

Fans may follow Saturday's action from afar through live stats and web-streaming, both of which are available free of charge to all users.  Live stats will not begin until game time, while the web-stream will become active at 6:45 p.m.

Admission prices to the game will be announced on Monday but generally range from $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, and $2 for children under 12 years old.

As two of the five Pool-B bids, Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer join the bracket of 35 teams to advance.  View the entire Division III bracket.

Playing the Sagehens for the fourth time this season, the Maroon and Gray expects nothing but an intense and hard-fought match, much like the previous three overtime meetings.  Redlands owns a slight 2-1 edge over Pomona-Pitzer this season, with its most recent win coming on May 3 for the conference title.

However, the Bulldogs' last loss was against the Sagehens on April 19 during Senior Night. This contest and their first showdown were decided by one goal apiece, while the SCIAC finale finished in a 14-12 tally for the Maroon and Gray.

Five of the top six goal-scorers from the conference represent either Redlands or Pomona-Pitzer.  Jana London currently leads all competitors with 68 netters.  However, the Bulldogs boast Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) with 62 and KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) with 49.

Overall, Pomona-Pitzer holds a slight advantage with 256 total netters on the season, while the Maroon and Gray owns 253 thus far.
