Redlands Women's Lacrosse Dismisses Kenyon in 19-10 Victory

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team made the most of its first home match since Feb. 22 by preserving its undefeated season with Thursday's 19-10 victory over the Ladies of Kenyon College (OH). The Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back with sophomore midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) leading the charge with six goals and one assist.

After the teams traded netters in the opening minutes, the Maroon and Gray fired off five unanswered scores to take a commanding lead by the 9:17-mark. During this stretch, Craycraft and junior attack player Aimee Dewan (Alamo, CA) notched two scores apiece.

Although Kenyon's junior attack player Emily Nichols (Caldwell, NJ) provided a first-half hat trick for the Ladies, the Bulldogs cruised to a 9-3 lead at the break.

The Maroon and Gray defense held Kenyon to only five shots in the opening 30 minutes.

Redlands found the back of the net on four occasions to open the second stanza, making it a 13-3 game with 21:51 remaining.

Although Kenyon more than doubled its offensive output with seven second-half goals, the Bulldogs' victory was never in question.

In addition to Craycraft and Dewan, the Bulldogs benefited from a multi-score effort from senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA), senior defender/attack player Ashley Finke (Austin, TX) and sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR).

Junior midfielder/attack player Crystal Painter (Lake George, NY) and Craycraft both nabbed six draw controls, accounting for more than half of their team's 20.

Painter also collected four ground balls to lead the Maroon and Gray.

Senior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) notched her eighth win of the season, making four saves in the process.

Redlands (8-0) hosts Sewanee (TN) in a non-conference bout on Monday at 7 p.m.
