Bulldog Women's Lacrosse Stymied by CMS for Second Loss of Season

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team faced off against perennial power Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match. Unfortunately, a three-goal halftime deficit became insurmountable for the Bulldogs as they fell by a score of 7-18.

The Athenas unleashed four goals to Redlands' single score within the first five minutes of the game, creating an early uphill battle for the Bulldogs.

During the closing 16 minutes of the first half, the Maroon and Gray played CMS evenly with both teams finding the back of the net on three occasions.

Trailing 5-8 at the break, the Bulldogs endured a much different outcome during the second stanza as they were held to just two goals and six shots.

Senior midfielder Christy Smith (St. Louis Park, MN) and junior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) combined for six of Redlands' goals, with Prickett contributing four.  Freshman midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) added a single netter for the Bulldogs.

Junior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) patrolled the cage for the Bulldogs, making seven saves in a complete-game appearance.

Redlands (11-2, 3-2 SCIAC) strives to rebound from this loss when it plays Occidental College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Eagle Rock.
