Redlands Women's Lacrosse Suffers 6-14 Loss to CMS

The University of Redlands women’s lacrosse team played host to regional rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Wednesday but came up short against the Athenas by a score of 6-14.

CMS jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but the Bulldogs responded with back-to-back goals of their own as sophomore midfielder Christy Smith (St. Louis Park, MN) and freshman defender Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) found the back of the net. However, the Athenas went on a 6-2 run to finish out the first half, earning a lead they would never relinquish en route to the solid victory.

The Bulldogs gained two goals from Smith, while Prickett, junior attack Mary Shepherd (Dallas, TX), freshman attack Ashley Finke (Austin, TX), and junior attack Anna Moriarty (Oak Park, IL) scored one apiece.

In 60 minutes of action, sophomore goalkeeper Katrina Hostak (Maple Valley, WA) made 11 stops between the pipes.

Molly Murtaugh led the Athenas with a hat trick as Colbi Brawner, Courtney Cronin, and Ali Abramovitz added two each.

Redlands (2-2) hosts the Loggers of the University of Puget Sound (WA) on Tuesday, March 17, at 3 p.m. on Farquhar Field.
