Bulldog Women's Golf finishes third at George Fox Westbrook Invite in Arizona

PEORIA, Ariz. – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team completed their two-day, two-round tournament at the George Fox Westbrook Invitational at the Lakes Course hosted at the Westbrook Village Golf Club where they finished third with a score of 592 (301-291). Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) was the highest finisher for the Maroon and Grey placing fourth following rounds of 73-72.  

In the first round Redlands shot a 301 and then dropped ten strokes with a 291 across the second 18 holes, which tied for the lowest team score in the tournament. After round one the Bulldogs sat in third, eight strokes behind the tournament host and leader No. 4 George Fox University (GFU) who shot a 293, and five strokes behind Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rival and No. 12 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) who shot a 296.

Redlands finished ahead of No. 16 Illinois Wesleyan University who finished fourth, No. 22 Trinity University (Texas) who took fifth, receiving votes UC Santa Cruz who was sixth, unranked SCIAC opponent Chapman University in seventh, No. 16 Bethel University (Minn.) in eighth, and unranked Whitworth University in ninth.

With their second round 291, the Bulldogs put together a great Sunday round but it wasn't enough to move them up the leaderboard.  They did pull in closer to GFU by five strokes who finished second (589) with CMS winning the tournament by five strokes (587).

On the individual side the nation's No. 32 ranked player York took fourth with a three over par 145 (73-72). No. 12 Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) was the other Bulldog inside the Top-10, tying for seventh with a 148 that included a pair of 74's.  

The rest of the Bulldog lineup included No. 3 Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) who made up for a 79 opening round with a 71 to end the invite, which improved her finish by 13 spots getting her into a tie for 12th. The two-time All-American Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) looks to be getting things back on track finishing tied for 16th with a 151 and a 74 second round score. Liu beat out nine Top-100 players over the two-days.  

First-year and No. 34 ranked Jizelle Robledo (La Habra, CA) continued her strong season by tying for 20th with a 154 (77-77). Fellow first-year Chloe Phan (Milpitas, CA) was 30th with a 158 as she improved by two strokes from round one to two (80-78).  

The team will join the men this weekend, Friday-Sunday, March 17-19 at the Jekyll Island Invitational hosted at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
