SCIAC Preseason Women's Golf Coaches Poll

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2023 women's golf preseason coaches' poll with the Bulldogs predicted to win the 2023 SCIAC Championship title for the first time since 2021 and for the first time in a full regular season since 2016.

The Bulldogs received six of the eight first place votes with the other two going to second place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) who sit seven points behind the University of Redlands. Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) is in third, only one point behind the Athenas. 

The Bulldogs lead all SCIAC teams in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll as the No. 2 team in the country. Pomona-Pitzer is No. 9 and Claremont-M-S is No. 11.

The Bulldogs are led by new head coach Jamie Zantua who was named the first full time head coach of both men's and women's golf in either program's history.

Zantua will have four of the 2022 All-SCIAC members competing this season.  Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA)Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA), and Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) were named 1st Team All-SCIAC and Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) landed on the 2nd Team.  Jugar, Liu, and York were also on the WGCA All-West Region teams. Jugar also became a three-time WGCA All-American while Liu added honorable mention recognition.

The Bulldogs open their 2023 schedule at SCIAC No. 1 hosted by the University of La Verne this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, February 11-12 in Long Beach at El Dorado Golf Club.
