REDLANDS, Calif. – University of Redlands Head Women's Golf Coach Jamie Zantua released his 2023 Spring Schedule Sunday, which includes three tournaments within conference and trips to Peoria, AZ, Jekyll Island, GA, and Pacific Grove, CA.   

The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 2 in the Division III National Polls according to Golfstat and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). 

In the individual Golfstat rankings Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) is the highest ranked Bulldog coming in at No. 3 in the country. She is one of five Bulldogs nationally ranked with Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) joining her in the Top-10 at No. 9. The other ranked players are Jizelle Robledo (La Habra, CA) at No. 28, Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) at No. 36, and Chloe Phan (Milpitas, CA) at No. 129.

The Maroon and Grey will open up their spring competition at SCIAC No. 1 (El Dorado Golf Club) hosted by the University of La Verne (ULV) on February 11-12.  There are a total of six regular season competitions with a seventh if they qualify for the NCAA Championships in May.

In March the Bulldogs will travel out of state twice to the George Fox Invitational (March 11-12 | Peoria, AZ | Westbrook Village G.C.) and the Jekyll Island Invitational (March 17-19 | Jekyll Island, GA | Jekyll Island G.C.). 

The second SCIAC Tournament will jumpstart the competition in April, taking place in Pomona, CA at Mountain Meadows G.C. on April 1-2.  The very next weekend on April 8-9 the Bulldogs will travel to the UC Santa Cruz Spring Invitational (Pacific Grove, CA | Pacific Grove G.C.).  Then to end the month the SCIAC Championships will take place on April 23-25 (Ventura, CA | Olivas Links G.C.).      

During the fall the Bulldogs faced a gauntlet with three tournaments over the course of 14 days in September. They won the California State Intercollegiate where they beat out Golfstat's No. 13 team Pomona-Pitzer and No. 11 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS). The Bulldogs were led by a 64 from Nicholson which tied her for the lowest single-round score in program history. Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) also moved up the rankings to No. 4 with a 70.

Then in Florida on the course the NCAA Division III National Championships will be held, they won the NCAA Fall Preview, beating then ranked No. 5 Texas at Dallas, No. 6 Washington & Lee, No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis, No. 7 Carnegie Mellon, No. 8 Methodist, No. 21 Grinnell, No. 24 Oglethorpe, and No. 23 Christopher Newport. Individually Nicholson took second during the tournament.   

Five days later after playing four rounds in a week with competitions in states on the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic, Redlands returned to take third at the Claremont Challenge. They finished behind the hosts then No. 11 CMS and NAIA Menlo College. 

Previous Trips

  • SCIAC No. 1 (El Dorado G.C.): At SCIAC No. 1 last season the Bulldogs took third at Olivas Links G.C.
  • George Fox Westbrook Invitational (Peoria, Ariz., Westbrook Village GC): Were runners-up last season.
  • Jekyll Island Invitational (Jekyll Island, GA, Jekyll Island GC-Pines Lakes): Made a comeback to finish second overall after sitting in 11th-place through one round.
  • SCIAC No. 2 (Mountain Meadows G.C.): Last time at Mountain Meadows G.C., which came in the spring 2022 the Bulldogs won a dual with Cal Lutheran. They also took home the team title on the same course during SCIAC No. 2. 
  • UC Santa Cruz Invitational (Pacific Grove, CA, Pacific Grove Golf Links): 2015 was the last time the Bulldogs played in Pacific Grove and at the UCSC Invite where they were runners-up.
  • SCIAC Championships (Olivas Links G.C.): Finished third at the 2022 SCIAC Championships. Last time they played at Olivas Links G.C. was in September at the California State Intercollegiate in which they won.
  • NCAA Championships (Howey-in-the-Hills, FL, Mission Hills Resort): Recorded a program-best finish in Houston in 2022 when they were national runners-up. Played at Mission Hills Resort during the Division III Preview Tournament in September, which they won.
