BEAUMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team made a big push on Day 2 of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Golf Championships Monday taking over the top spot on the leaderboard by themselves edging Pomona-Pitzer by three.

Across the two days the Maroon and Grey have gone 309-296 (605) and now sit three strokes ahead of Pomona-Pitzer (309-299 = 608).  Redlands battled the wind and the warm conditions at Morongo Golf Club (Tukwet Canyon), but found a way to take a lead after going +8 as a team today on the Legends Course.

They now sit ahead of Pomona-Pitzer (No. 2 – 608)), Claremont-M-S (No. 3-622), Cal Lutheran (No. 4-633), Chapman University (No. 5-648), Whittier College (No. 6-679), Occidental College (No. 7-696), and the University of La Verne (No. 8-804).

Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) has been red hot over two days and saved her best for the second round going -2 under (70) to take over the leaderboard by herself.  She knocked in a right to left birdie putt on 18 that gave her a one shot advantage over the second place finisher, while at the same time handing the Bulldogs a three shot lead at the Championships over the Sagehens and a one-shot lead over PP for the entire seven-round SCIAC Championship Title.  Jugar has gone 74-70 over two rounds with five birdies coming across the final 18 holes.  She now leads the field in Par 3 scoring (3.00 | E) and Par 4 Scoring (3.85 | -3).

Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) has found herself in a good spot at +9 for the Championships, which places her in 6th place.  She shot +5 on her second round and has gone 76-77 (153).  Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) has been consistent over her two rounds going 78-76 that moved her up a spot into a three-way tie for 7th.  She was +4 on her second round and is now +10 for the Championships.  She is currently leading the field on Total Pars with 26.

Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) bounced back from an opening round 85 shaving off eleven strokes to fire off a 74 (+2), which moved her up 13 spots into a tie for 13th.  Joining her in 13th is Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) who also moved up in the standings.  After a first round 83, was also able to drop strokes across the second 18 posting a 76.

Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) found herself dropping into a tie for 23rd after going 81-85 over two days.  She was +13 on the second day but does own one of two eagles on the round, which came on Day 1 on Hole 16 where she took a three on a par five.

Over two days the Bulldogs are leading the field in Par 3 Scoring (3.33 | +13), Total Pars (94), and Total Eagles (1).  They are No. 2 in Par 4 Scoring (4.28 | +28) and No. 3 in Par 5 Scoring (5.30 | +12).
