U of R Women’s Golf Moves up to No. 4/No. 5 in Div. III National Rankings

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team continues to move up in the Division III National Rankings jumping up to No. 4 according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) and No. 5 according to golfstat.

The Maroon and Grey have earned rankings on five different occasions throughout the season (No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, No. 8) and are building momentum heading into next week's SCIAC Championships.

Redlands ended the month of March hosting the Bulldog Spring Classic in Rancho Mirage (Desert Island C.C) where they took 4th overall after shooting scores of 303-299.  They did bounce back in a big way though at SCIAC No. 2 to open up April competition winning the event with a 309-303, beating the second place finisher by 18 strokes and seeing four players finish inside the Top 5. 

Currently six Bulldogs are in the Division III National Rankings as individuals.  Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) leads the group coming in ranked No. 7 with a 74.40 average, while going 15-8 against Top 25 opponents and a stellar 56-0 record against players ranked from 26-100.  She is the top ranked player within the SCIAC conference.     

Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) is ranked No. 29 in the polls with a 77.46 average, is 9-15 against the Top 25, 16-6 against players ranked 26-50 and 32-4 against players ranked 51-100.

Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) is not far off coming in at No. 32 with an average of 76.34.  She has not beaten a Top 25 opponent yet this season but is 13-9 against ranked players from 26-50 and 35-1 against players ranked 51-100. 

Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) has been competing well for the Bulldogs recently and comes in ranked No. 53 with a 77.23 average.  She has yet to beat a Top 25 opponent but has four wins against the Top 50 and boasts a 24-7 record against players ranked 51-100. 

Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) earns a spot at No. 68 with an average of 77.22.  She has a win against the Top 50 and is 21-14 going against players ranked 51-100. 

Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) is the last Bulldog to earn a ranking as she sits at No. 78 with a 77.28 average.  She has yet to earn a win against a Top 50 player but has twelve wins against players ranked 51-100.            

Redlands returns to the links looking to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships when they take part in the upcoming SCIAC Championships set to be played April 24-26 at Morongo Golf Club (Tukwet Canyon).
