U of R Women's Golf Debuts at California State Intercollegiate with Fourth-Place Outing

The University of Redlands women's golf team embarked upon the fall portion of the 2018-19 season by taking on quality foes at the California State Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura. With new faces among the fairways for the Bulldogs, the young squad finished fourth with a 36-hole total of 614 (305-309) on the par-72 course. 

Senior transfer Keilee Bessho (La Canada, CA) paced the Maroon and Gray with her tied-for-fifth-place showing in her Bulldog debut.  She fired off rounds of 71 and 77 for 148 that included four birdies and 24 pars over the two rounds.  She ranked second among the field on par fours with an even score of 4.00.

Sophomore Annie Hay (University Place, WA) provided consistent rounds of 75 and 77 for a 17th-place total of 152.  In addition to sinking five birdies, she tied for fifth in par-five scoring with a minus one average of 4.88. 

First-year Dana Condon (Palm Desert, CA) climbed eight spots on the individual leaderboard into a tied for 24th overall by shooting respective rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156.  Her inaugural appearance with the Maroon and Gray included 19 pars and three birdies en route to an even tally on the par threes, which landed her in a tie for sixth place among the 62-woman field.

Sophomore transfer Mariah Moon (La Quinta, CA) and first-year Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) completed the scoring quintet for Redlands, finishing tied-for-41st and 44th, respectively.  Moon registered 19 pars during her 36-hole outing that culminated in scores of 83 and 78 for 161.  Nicholson completed the tournament by signing her scorecard with an 80 and 83 (163).

Redlands heads to Houston, Texas, for the NCAA Division III National Preview Invite at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Monday, September 24, and Tuesday, September 25.
