Caroline Ordian's SCIAC Athlete of the Year Award Highlights Bulldog Women's Golf Accolades

It was announced earlier today that the No. 7 University of Redlands women's golf team hauled in four All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) awards, as highlighted by sophomore Caroline Ordian's (Palm Desert, CA) second-consecutive Athlete of the Year honor.  In addition, senior Amberlynn Dorsey (Highland, CA) represents Redlands on the First Team, while juniors Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) and Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) receive Second-Team nods.

After taking home the Athlete of the Year honor as a rookie, Ordian repeats this accolade in back-to-back seasons as the Bulldogs' top golfer.  During the seven rounds over three conference tournaments, she boasts a scoring average of 75.57, with her low round of 72 coming in the final 18 holes of the SCIAC Championship Tournament to propel her to medalist honors.  Currently, Ordian leads all NCAA Division III women's golfers with an adjusted scoring average of 74.61.

Dorsey nabs her second All-SCIAC honor with this year's First-Team selection.  In seven conference rounds, she owns an average of 79.86, which includes a low of 73 during the opening 18 holes of the SCIAC Championship Tournament.  She went on to finish second in the individual standings during the three-day event.  Dorsey is currently ranked ninth in Division III with an overall adjusted scoring average of 78.38.

K. Gordon becomes a two-time Second Team All-Conference honoree with this year's award.  While competing in all seven rounds, she put together a conference scoring average of 81.29, which includes her low of 76 during the initial 18 holes of the SCIAC Tournament No. 1.

R. Gordon collects her third-consecutive All-SCIAC selection, with back-to-back Second-Team nods.  She ranks third among the Bulldogs with a conference scoring average of 83.86.  Her low round of 77 helped set the tone for the Bulldogs' SCIAC championship run during the conference tournament.

Furthermore, Head Coach Jack Stewart was named the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.  In his first year at the helm, he guided the Bulldogs to back-to-back conference championships and consecutive NCAA appearances.
