Redlands Women’s Golf Team Wins Back-to-Back SCIAC Championships

After leading throughout the three-day Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships at Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont, the No. 7 University of Redlands women's golf team gained a 20-stroke advantage in the seven-round aggregate scoring to win back-to-back conference titles.  In addition, sophomore Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) captured the individual championship, while senior teammate Amberlynn Dorsey (Highland, CA) finished second in the player standings to cap off a stellar outing by the Bulldogs.

The Maroon and Gray put together a 54-hole total of 929 to remain in front of the competition on Tuesday and snag the tournament championship.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges finished 17 strokes behind to take second place, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges took third at 19 strokes off the Bulldogs.

Ordian improved from third to first over the three days by firing off rounds of 77-75-72 for a total of 224 for eight-over par.  She paced the field with nine birdies while recording 30 pars over the 54 holes.

After leading the tournament for the first two days, Dorsey finished second overall with her score of 226 (73-77-76).  Her day-one round set the tone for her performance before notching the field's only eagle during the final 18 holes.  She also holed six birdies and 29 pars.

Junior Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) also finished among the top 10 with her tied-for-sixth-place showing that included six birdies and 26 pars en route to a three-day total of 237 (77-80-80).  Junior Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) elevated her individual position in the standings by eight spots to take 14th place with a score of 242 (82-84-76).

Junior Jenna Durette (Oceanside, CA) rounded out the Bulldogs' scorers with her 54-hole tally of 254 (83-86-85) that included 20 pars and three birdies.

Redlands now hopes for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be announced on Monday, May 2.
