Bulldog Women’s Golf Fights High Winds on First Day of Lady Bulldog Invitational

The University of Redlands women's golf team fought through strong winds all afternoon on the first day of the Lady Bulldog Invitational at the par-72, 5,948-yard Champions Course at East Valley Golf Club Saturday afternoon in Beaumont.

Redlands sits in second overall in the team standings out of four scoring squads with 410 strokes. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges holds a comfortable 20-stroke lead (390) on the field, while the University of Calgary (AB) and Whitman College (WA) round out the teams with scores of 435 and 439, respectively.

Sophomore Tracy Saracino (Englewood, CO) is setting the pace for the Bulldogs through 18 holes, boasting the field's fourth-lowest score of 96. Senior Paige VanArsdall (Lakewood, WA) sits in a tie for sixth at 102, while senior Remy Kawaguchi (Bellevue, WA) occupies a share of ninth at 103. Freshman Haley Peterson (Gladstone, OR) and senior Staci Walsh (Shoreline, WA) carded scores of 109 and 111, which rank 14th and 15th, respectively.

Occidental College's Tori Leon shot a 12-over 84 to lead the pack on day one.

Redlands continues play at the Lady Bulldog Invitational tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. The golfers will take to the Champions Course again at the East Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
