The University of Redlands women’s golf team hosted the
four-team Lady Bulldog Classic on Saturday and Sunday, marking the
team’s home debut for the 2009 season at the Yucaipa Valley
Golf Club.
Junior Staci Walsh (Shoreline, WA) led the way for the Bulldogs,
shooting the team’s low both days (85, 83) and accumulating
an impressive two-day stroke total of 168. Overall, Walsh tied for
third with UC Santa Cruz’s Jesse Lewis and
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges’ Brittany Isobe.
Additionally, freshman Tracy Saracino (Englewood, CO) shot an 86 on
each of the two days and posted the classic’s eighth-best
total (172). Sophomore Amanda Aldridge (Woodinville, WA) shot a 197
and provided the Maroon and Gray’s third-lowest two-day score
while sophomore Janae Alvarez (Thermal, CA) and junior Paige
VanArsdall (Lakewood, WA) each shot a 206 and tied for the
team’s fourth-best stroke total over the course of the
event.
Occidental College’s sole representative, Tori Leon, shot the
classic low of 165. UC Santa Cruz used all-around solid scores to
win the classic (693). George Fox University (OR) placed second
overall (706) while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished in third (729).
Redlands ended up in fourth with a 740-stroke total.
Redlands travels to Pasadena next for the SCIAC 18-hole No. 1 on
March 2. Tee time is scheduled for 12 noon.
