Bulldog Women's Basketball Releases 2022-23 Schedule

2022-23 University of Redlands Women's Basketball Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Basketball team opens their 2022-23 schedule on Saturday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m. against Macalester College in Orange, Calif. at the Chapman Tip-Off Classic.

Overall, the Bulldogs are slated to play 25 games this season with 16 occurring in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play and another nine within non-conference. In their non-conference schedule, they will play two home contests, four neutral site games, and another three on the road. The Bulldogs' first home game of the season will take place on Friday, November 18 at 7:00pm inside Currier Gym when they take on No. 15 Whitman College, a team who qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships last season and made it to the second round. 

The Bulldogs return three All-SCIAC performers from last year's team, 1st Team members Alyssa Downs (South San Francisco, CA) and Hannah Jerrier (Canton, MA) along with Jerrier being named the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Chyanne Pagkalinawan (Valencia, CA) was was selected to the 2nd Team.  

Five of the top six scorers for Redlands return with Downs (14.0 PPG), Jerrier (12.7 PPG), and Pagkalinawan (11.8 PPG) all double-figure scorers last season. Jerrier was also the team's leading rebounder at 11.0 RPG, the first Bulldog to post a double-digit rebounding average since Brittany Oster during the 2013-14 season when she averaged 10.7 RPG.

  • Macalester College (Nov. 12 | 8-18 | NR): No prior recorded meetings.
  • Whitman College (Nov. 18 | 27-2 | No. 15): The previous meeting was a home matchup in 2019 where the Bulldogs lost 79-76. Overall, the Bulldogs are 0-3 overall against the Blues and 0-2 at home. The first recorded matchup was in 2013, which was a 66-61 loss.
  • Linfield University (Nov. 25 | 1-23 | NR): The Bulldogs won the previous meeting at home in 2018, 76-64. The first game and only other recorded meeting was in 1999 when they lost 78-55.
  • Pacific University (Ore.) (Nov. 26 | 19-8 | NR): The Bulldogs beat the Boxers 91-78 inside Currier Gym last season. The last loss came in 2018 on the road in overtime, 66-58.
  • Occidental College (Nov. 30, Jan. 21 | 8-15 | NR): Won both matchups in 2022 against the Tigers, 83-77 and 79-64.
  • Whittier College (Dec. 14, Feb. 8 | 16-9 | NR): The Bulldogs opened the season with an easy 71-54 victory before dropping the final game of the regular season to the Poets 43-40 and then falling 71-66 in double overtime at home during the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Semifinals.
  • Puget Sound University (Dec. 16 | 20-5 | NR): The last matchup was all the way back during the 2009-10 season when the Bulldogs lost 54-42. The other matchup was in 2008 when they lost 62-58.
  • Pacific Lutheran University (Dec. 17 | 7-16 | NR): The Bulldogs are 2-0 all-time against the Lutes. They won their previous matchup in 2019, 68-65.
  • Illinois College (Dec. 20 | 10-11 | NR): The lone meeting between the two sides was in 2018 when the Bulldogs eased their way to a win, 79-61.
  • Albion College (Dec. 28 | 18-8 | NR): The Bulldogs and Britons have met once before, that meeting coming in December 2015, when the Bulldogs lost 54-49.
  • University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (Dec. 29 | 14-12 | NR): Redlands dropped the team's lone previous meeting in 2018, 56-39.
  • University of La Verne (Dec. 31, Feb. 18 | 12-14 | NR): The Bulldogs won handily on the road 80-51 int he first meeting and then found themselves in a more competitive 80-70 home win in the second meeting.  
  • Caltech (Jan. 4, Feb. 1 | 11-14 | NR): Redlands swept the two season meetings last season with final scores of 65-47 and 81-71. The Bulldogs have not lost to the Beavers, going 32-0, as of the 2005-06 season.
  • Pomona-Pitzer College (Jan. 7, Feb. 4 | 15-10 | NR): The Bulldogs swept the Sagehens in 2022, winning on the road 80-72 and at home 66-53.
  • Chapman University (Jan. 11, Jan. 25 | 13-12 | NR): The Bulldogs beat the Panthers 71-69 at home and then 75-57 on the road.
  • California Lutheran University (Jan. 14, Jan. 28 | 7-16 | NR): Redlands swept the three games last year with a 68-51 home win, an 85-62 road victory, and then beat the Regals 79-59 in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinals.
  • Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College (Jan. 21, Feb. 15 | 10-16 | NR): The Bulldogs won an early season matchup with the Athenas in December last year, 68-45, but lost 74-70 in January on the road. That loss was the first to CMS since the 2018-19 season when they went 0-3 against a CMS team that finished 24-3.
