SCIAC Women's Basketball Weekly Release #10

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week in the tenth week of voting and University of Redlands junior center Julia Balestreri (Pleasanton, CA) was named the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Julia becomes the fifth Bulldog to receive this recognition this year from the conference joining Angelina Roque (Offensive) and Hannah Jerrier (Offensive, Defensive, Defensive).  

Balestreri led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week in SCIAC play that saw the Bulldogs beat Chapman (71-69), Caltech (81-71), and California Lutheran (68-51). She averaged 2.3 blocks per game and finished with seven for the week, registering a trio of swats against both the Panthers and Regals. She also collected 20 of her 33 rebounds on the defensive glass in addition to netting 47 points, averaging 15.7 points per game.   

Redlands returns to the court tonight, January 17 when they travel to take on Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 5:00pm.
