SCIAC Women's Basketball Weekly Release (No. 8)

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athletes of the Week were announced Monday and for the second straight week the University of Redlands has won SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week recognition.

For the first time this season junior Angelina Roque (San Diego, CA) has been recognized by the conference as their Offensive Athlete of the Week joining teammate Hannah Jerrier (Canton, MA) who was selected back on December 20.

Roque paced the University of Redlands' offensive efforts in a 72-65 upset win over No. 13 Wartburg.  She led the Bulldogs with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field, and a 4-for-5 effort from the free-throw line. The junior guard also dished out four assists, registered a trio of steals, and swatted two shots in addition to pulling down six rebounds in the winning effort with four of those coming on the defensive glass. 

Due to COVID Circumstances the U of R Women's Basketball team has yet to hit the court since December 20 and will look to get back to competition this Saturday, January 8 when they travel to take on Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 4:00pm.
