REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Basketball team got back into the win category Saturday night beating Pacific University 91-78 inside Currier Gym.

With the win the Bulldogs improve to 3-1, while handing the Boxers their second loss on the season dropping them to 4-2.

Four of five starters recorded double digit scoring efforts for the Maroon and Grey led by senior Hannah Jerrier (Canton, MA) who was too much inside pouring in a season high 28-point performance to go with five rebounds.  She was joined by senor point guard Chyanne Pagkalinawan (Valencia, CA) who added a career high 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while providing five rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.  Alyssa Downs (South San Francisco, CA), despite being in foul trouble in the second half was still able to put up 17 points with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Angelina Roque (San Diego, CA) also found double digit scoring with 14 points coupled with six rebounds, four assists a steal and a block.  All four Bulldogs have now scored in double figures in all four games this season.

It was a high scoring opening quarter with a combined 52 points being scored.  UR shot 63.2% from the field led by a 14-point effort from Jerrier.  An early 8-0 run by the Bulldogs moved the score to 10-2 following a pair of layins from Jerrier and two jumpers from Roque and Pagkalinawan.  After giving up the lead at 15-14 U of R went back to Jerrier inside and she sparked a run with four in a row capped off with a Pagkalinawan jumper from the elbow.  Over the final minute Pacific managed to get within three after a pair of free throws from Brilie Kovaloff, but as time expired Jordan Smith (Tustin, CA) came up clutch with a last second dagger from three-point territory that moved the score to 29-23.

The offense continued to click on all cylinders for Redlands in the 2nd Quarter putting up 19 points this time behind a 46.7% mark from the field, including an impressive 75% clip from deep.  Pagkalinawan continued to create space adding six points coming on a pair of down town connections, the second of which ended an 8-0 run that made it a double-digit lead at 42-32.  The Boxers again tried to create some momentum at the end of the quarter getting within five, but a jumper from Downs and another last shot from Smith would give UR a 48-39 lead at intermission.

Out of the break Pacific created some pushback putting up 18 points and forcing four Bulldog turnovers.  Camy Aguinaldo continued to put up points for the Boxers adding another seven that kept it a single digit margin early.  But Downs would have something to say about that putting together her own run of eight straight this time using back to back three-pointers and a jumper to move the score to 64-47.  Seven unanswered after that by Pacific would bring the deficit back to 10, but that's as close as they would get as UR would run away with it in the 4th as Pagkalinawan would stamp the win with another 10 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line down the stretch.

The Bulldogs finished shooting a stellar 52% from the field, 46% from three-point territory and 83% from the free-throw line.  They outrebounded the Boxers 36-26, added 30 points in the paint, earned 17 points off turnovers and put back 11-second chance points.

Redlands returns to the court next Wednesday, December 1 when they open up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play with a rematch of the 2019-20 SCIAC Championship Game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps beginning at 7:00pm.
