Junior forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) recorded her 1,000th career point earlier tonight as the University of Redlands women's basketball dominated the visiting Beavers of Caltech during a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game in Currier Gym. Needing only one bucket to reach the milestone, she scored within seconds of entering the game and went on to contribute 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in the Bulldogs' 68-31 victory.

Carroll becomes the fifth Redlands women's basketball player to accomplish this scoring feat, with Leslie Ferguson '95 holding the school record for career points at 1,576.

Carroll began her junior campaign 182 points away from the milestone by averaging 15.1 points per game through her first two seasons. This year, she has contributed 13.6 points per game as the team's leading scorer.

In tonight's game, Redlands opened up with an 18-8 run and sustained the lead through the final whistle while holding the Beavers to just 15 and 16 points in each half.

Junior guard Mariah Barbetti-Cort (Ventura, CA) continued her offensive prowess with a 16-point showing, going 6-for-7 from the field. Freshman guard Jesse Luersen (Bend, OR) added 10 points and five rebounds to round out the top scorers. Eight other Bulldogs chipped in at least one point in the victory.

Caltech (0-20, 0-9 SCIAC) gained a team-high 10 points from junior center Krissy Dahl (Eagleville, PA). Freshman forward Paige Logan (Los Altos, CA) nabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Redlands shot 43.6% from the field but unleashed a 47.1% display from downtown. The Bulldogs also won the rebounding battle with a 41 to 27 advantage.

The Bulldogs (13-7, 7-2 SCIAC) head to Whittier College on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. conference match-up against the Poets.
