Bulldog Women's Basketball Cruises past Cardinals of North Central

The University of Redlands women's basketball team halted its recent skid with an impressive 61-30 thrashing of the North Central College (IL) Cardinals during Friday's non-conference bout in Currier Gym.  The Bulldogs jumped out of the gate with a 10-1 run and never relinquished the lead while shooting 40.9% from the field.  The Maroon and Gray also dominated the boards with a 56 to 32 advantage.

A well-balanced attack allowed nine different Bulldogs to score at least two points in the victory.  Freshman center Victoria Fakalata (East Palo Alto, CA) came off the bench to lead the game with 10 points, shooting 5-for-6, while also nabbing nine rebounds for a near double-double.  Senior forward Allison Clark (Altadena, CA) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds, while freshman forward Madison Sanders-Curry (San Jose, CA) provided nine points and eight rebounds.

The team recorded five blocks, with freshman forward Brittany Oster (Agoura Hills, CA) earning two.

North Central's sophomore forward Terra Musgrove and sophomore guard Jenny Swanson each provided seven points in the loss.

Redlands improves to 3-4, while the Cardinals drop to 3-3 on the season.

The Bulldogs host regional rival UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. non-conference showdown against the Banana Slugs.
