Bulldog Women's Basketball Dominates La Sierra University

The University of Redlands women’s basketball team rolled past La Sierra University in last night’s non-conference game by a score of 78-43. Sophomore Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) led the way by racking up her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.

The Bulldogs earned a 10-point lead at the half, shooting 44.8% compared to the Golden Eagles’ mark of 37.9%. Redlands also knocked down 4-for-7 shots from long range, bolstering its lead in the opening period.

The Maroon and Gray ran away with the game by out-rebounding La Sierra, 46 to 19, to go along with a solid second-half performance of 48.6% from the field.

Overall, La Sierra shot its best from the field at 36.5% but struggled at the free-throw line with a 27.3% clip.

Senior guard Ali Bueno (San Jose, CA) added 12 points on four three-pointers to go along with three assists. Off the bench, sophomore guard Nicki Nakhaie (Laguna Hills, CA) chipped in 12 points, while freshman guard Ashley Sevilla (San Diego, CA) provided 10 points. Senior forward Meghan Yetman (Danville, CA) contributed seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The Bulldogs (6-2) host undefeated Lakeland College (WI) on Mon., Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Currier Gym.
