Three Redlands Track & Field athletes post top-20 national marks at APU Franson Last Chance

AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Azusa Pacific University (APU) Franson Last Chance meet this past Friday-Saturday. There was a total of seven athletes who finished inside the Top-8 of their respective event, seven athletes with personal bests, and three athletes had their personal bests fall inside the Top-20 in the country.

Men

In the 10000m David Huggins (Salem, OR) ran a personal best time of 33:20.59.

In the Long Jump Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA) took fourth place after beginning the event with a jump of 7.46m/24' 5.75", the fifth best in Division III and the second best all-time in program history.

The third personal best on the men's side was Wyatt Gibson (San Jose, CA) who threw 38.34m/125' 9" on his third attempt after bouncing back from fouls on his first two throws.

Women

Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) was 19th in the 800m but ran a personal best time of 2:12.95, the sixth fastest in program history.

The 4x100 relay team of Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA), Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA), Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), and Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) took seventh with a time of 47.28.

Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) had a great performance in the Long Jump when she posted the second best mark in program history and the 19th best in Division III this season at 5.75m/18' 10.5" on her second attempt.

The Bulldog throwers posted four Top-8 finishes with Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) taking fourth in the discus thanks to a fifth throw of 41.20m/135' 2", a new personal best. Two spots below Havel was Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) who finished sixth after a fourth throw of 39.78m/130' 6".

The final thrower in the Top-8 was Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) who took seventh in the Hammer with a third throw of 45.43m/149' 0". That mark is the third best in program history.

Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) was the last to score in the Heptathlon compiling 4421 points, the fifth best in program history, a new personal best, and the 20th best mark in Division III. She posted five personal bests in the High Jump (1.47m/4' 9.75"), Shot Put (9.71m/31' 10.25"), Long Jump (5.02m/16' 5.75"), Javelin (25.11m/82' 4"), and 800m (2:29.13). She finished no lower than sixth with five fourth place or better finishes.

The final regular season meet for the Bulldogs to try and qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships is this coming Wednesday-Thursday, May 17-18 as the Bulldogs host the Redlands Final Qualifier inside Ted Runner Stadium.
