Jacob Huset and Ella Bachmeier travel to Arizona for Jim Click Multis

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Redlands Track and Field team sent Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) and Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) to the Jim Click Multis hosted by the University of Arizona Thursday and Friday. Huset finished ninth in the Decathlon with 5253 points and Bachmeier took 14th in the Heptathlon with 4055 points.

Huset started his competition off by taking eighth in the 100m with a time of 11.29, good for 797 points. He then followed it up by finishing seventh in the long jump (6.32m, 20' 7"), scoring 657 points. After a dip down to 13th and only 457 points in the shot put (9.53m, 31' 3.24"), he was the runner-up in the high jump (2.01m, 6' 7"), scoring 813 points and just missing her personal best by 0.02m, 0' 0.75". Huset ended day one with a ninth-place finish in the 400m as he earned 648 points with a time of 53.79.

To begin the second and final day Huset ran a personal best 16.43 110 hurdle time as he earned 685 points and took eighth. After not competing in the discus, he took 10th and got 431 points in the pole vault as he cleared 3.30m, 10' 10". In the javelin he threw 44.04m, 144' 6" as he scored 501 points placing ninth. Then in the final event of the competition, the 1500m, he just missed a sub-six-minute time as he ran a 6:00.12 hauling in another 264 points thanks to his ninth-place finish.

On the other side Bachmeier was competing in the Heptathlon. She began the competition with a 14.95 100 hurdles time, earning 848 points placing 13th. In the high jump she finished 16th with a 1.41m, 4' 7.5" mark and 523 points. Then in the shot put she was 16th as she threw 9.10m, 29' 10.25" for another 471 points.

In the 200m she was 13th as she ran a 26.46 adding 757 points to her total. Then in her final three events she would place 15th, 13th, and 10th in the long jump, javelin, and 800m, respectively collecting 487, 309, and 660 points. She jumped 4.73m, 15' 6.25", threw 21.10m, 69' 2", and ran 2:32.69.

Her 4055 points is 340 points better than her personal best of 3715, which she combined for at the Redlands Final Qualifier in 2021.
