REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams hosted the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual No. 2 inside Ted Runner Stadium Saturday as they hosted Whittier College, University of La Verne, and California Lutheran University.

The Bulldogs swept all three teams but the match-ups with La Verne and Whittier were the only two that counted towards the multi-dual total.

The men posted 29 Top-3 finishes with 12 event wins and ten of the top-three finishes were new personal bests.

Redlands had a huge edge over their competition in the sprinting events as they had the top three finishers in the 100m and the top two in the 200m. Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA), Cristian Megas (Palmdale, CA), and Cooper Malerstein (Huntington Beach, CA) ran times of 10.67, 10.76, and 10.93 in the 100m.

In the 200m, Megas and Malerstein went one-two with times of 21.31 and 21.92, which were both new personal bests and Megas' time moves him from fifth to third in program history. Megas and Malerstein were also on the winning 4x100 relay team that also included Raymond and Gabriel Meunier (Winslow, AZ), that ran a 41.72.

In the 400m Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA) ran a 49.78. Jones also ran the anchor leg for the winning 4x400 relay team that ran a 3:25.76 with Jones being joined by Hunter Greer (Wildomar, CA), Aidan Strealy (Lake Oswego, OR), and Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA).

Byrne and Strealy were the top two finishers in the 800m as they crossed the finish line with times of 1:56.69 and 1:58.73.

Riley Lathrop (Honolulu, HI) was the lone Bulldog in the 1500m as he got the win in a time of 3:59.75.

In the other two long distance races Enrique Verschoor (Mar del Plata, Argentina), Rogelio Salcido (Beaumont, CA), and David Huggins (Salem, OR) took the top three spots in the 5000m and then Brandon Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) was second in the 3000m Steeplechase. Huggins' (15:56.41) and Farnsworth's (9:55.19) times were both personal bests.

Huset took third in the 110m Hurdles in 16.57 and Nathan Mestre (Chula Vista, CA) and Gael Orozco (Claremont, CA) were first and second in the 400m hurdles with times of 58.04 and 59.76. Huset and Mestre's times were personal bests.

The Bulldogs took second and third in the pole vault as Michael Meheen (Carmel, CA) cleared 4.15m/13' 7.25" on his second height while Corte Peterson (Lafayette, CO) was successful on his second attempt at 4.15m/13' 7.25".

Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) won the high jump with a new personal best on his third attempt at his fourth height of 1.95m, 6' 4.75". Also, in the same event was Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, N.Y.) who took third with a personal best height of 1.70m/5' 7". Asberry-Blanco also posted a top-three finish as he came in runner-up in the triple jump with a 13.49m/44' 3.25" mark.

Adding to his wins in the 100m and 4x100 relay was Raymond in the long jump which he won with a personal best mark of 6.86m/ 22' 6.25".

In the throws portion from the morning session the Bulldogs received three podium finishes from Tyler Davies (Lake Forest, CA) in the shot put (2nd, 13.40m/43' 11.75"), discus (3rd, 34.14m/ 112'), and hammer (2nd, 39.25m/128' 9").

Coming right behind Davies in the shot put was Wyatt Gibson (San Jose, CA) with a third throw of 11.87m/38' 11.5" as he took third.

Much like Raymond's day, Huset added his third top-three finish with an event win in the javelin as he threw 43.21m/141' 9" on his second-to-last attempt.
