Lyon and Cargile advance to NCAA Div. III Track & Field Championship Finals | Ackerman and Raymond-Hill collect PR’s in 100m

GENEVA, OH – Another four University of Redlands Track and Field student-athletes competed Friday on Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with two qualifying for the finals in their respective events and another two hitting PR's. 

Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) returned for her third event in two days and for the third time qualified for the finals as she finished 9th in the 400m Prelims with a time of 55.79.  Saturday, she will now compete in the finals of the 4x100 Relay, the 200m and the 400m.

Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) competed in her first career individual event at Nationals, which came in the 100m Prelims, but was unable to qualify for the finals, as she took 15th with a PR time of 12.06.  She will still run on Saturday, but in the finals of the 4x100 Relay.   

Markelle Raymond-Hill (Fresno, CA) was the other Bulldog to compete in the 100m Prelims and he too posted a PR time of 10.64, but it put him in 10th place forcing him out of the finals. 

Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) was the last Bulldog to compete on the day, cruising to a qualifying berth in his signature event, the 800m.  He took 7th overall with a time of 1:50.54 and will now move on to Saturday.

Redlands enters Saturday, May 28 with six Bulldogs competing in the finals of five events.  Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA) gets the day started for the Maroon and Grey in the 3000m Steeplechase beginning at 8:30am PST, the Women's 4x100 Relay team consisting of Courtney O'Neal (Las Vegas, NV), Ackerman, Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), and Lyon will then compete as the No. 2 ranked team in Division III beginning at 9:05am PST.  Lyon then returns at 10:10am PST to compete in the 400m, Cargile will then run in the 800m at 11:00am PST and Lyon will end the day with her final event, the 200m beginning at 11:40pm PST.
