Tucker Cargile and Andrea Lyon Qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross-Country Committee announced today the participants in the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

For the University of Redlands Track & Field program, they saw two athletes qualify in graduate student Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) and senior Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA).  Cargile will compete in the Mile Run, coming in with the second fastest time in the country (4:07.60) and currently owns the 11th fastest mile time in NCAA Division III history.  Cargile has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships eight times, three of which have come at the Indoor Track & Field Championships. 

Lyon will compete in the 400m, coming into the meet with the sixth fastest time in the country (57.29).  Lyons has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships twice, but this is her first time competing at the Indoor Track & Field Championships.   

The championships will be held this Friday-Saturday, March 11-12 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with Visit Winston-Salem and Guilford College serving as hosts.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
