Tucker Cargile and Andrea Lyon put up record numbers at BU Last Chance

BOSTON, MA – In an effort to qualify for the Track & Field NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, University of Redlands Head Track & Field Coach Mike Schmidt sent senior Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) and graduate student Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) back to Boston, MA for the BU Last Chance Meet.

It was a competitive field with athletes competing unattached from Nike, Under Armour, Saint-Laurent, just to name a few along with collegiate runners from all levels, including some from University of Oregon, Lee (TN), Azusa Pacific, Cal State San Marcos, Adelphi, Northeastern, TCNJ, Saint Mary's University, Hamilton, and UMass Lowell.

They both put up record numbers with Cargile running the Mile with a time of 4:04.47, winning his heat and placing him 26th overall.  Even with the banked track conversation he is now ranked No. 2 in Division III and also posted the 11th fastest mile time in Division III history.

Lyon competed in the 400m and put up a 56.53, which was good enough to place her 8th overall as she now ranks No. 7 in Division III.

Both athletes had huge PR's in their respective events and are in a good spot to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships set to take place on March 11-12 in Winston-Salem, NC.

Before that both will lead the Track & Field teams into the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 1 meet hosted by Chapman University, but on the campus of the University of La Verne this Saturday, March 5 beginning at 10:00am.
