Redlands Indoor Track and Field Garners Three Regional Athletes of the Year, Head and Assistant Men’s Coach of the Year by USTFCCCA

The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced the 2020 DIII Indoor Track and Field Regional awards which includes junior Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) as the Men's Track Athlete of the Year, senior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) as the Women's Track Athlete of the Year, senior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) as the Women's Field Athlete of the Year, Mike Schmidt as the Men's Head Coach of the Year, and Dominic Lopez as the Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for a historical haul of Regional awards.

Cargile is currently ranked 10th nationally and first in the West region in the 800 Meters with a speedy time of 1:53.43. He also takes the top spot in the region in the Mile at 4:15.61. He leads the region in the Mile by 11 seconds and the 800 by two seconds.

Fields takes the third spot nationally and first regionally in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.75. She finished in the top-five in all meets she competed in this season.

Kimble is ranked ninth nationally and first regionally in the pentathlon with 3,432 points. She also established a personal record in the high jump with a leap of 5' 3.25" during the NAU Tune-Up Meet. In addition, she ranks second in the region in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.77.

13th year Head Coach Mike Schmidt and fifth-year Assistant Coach Dominic Lopez coached the Redlands men's indoor track and field team to the No. 2 spot in the West Region this season. The women's indoor track and field team is ranked second in the West as well.  

All of the honorees are currently on their way to the NCAA DIII Indoor Nationals in Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14.
