First-Year Owen Schmitz Tabbed SCIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office announced its weekly awards and first-year Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) of the University of Redlands men's track & field team garnered the Men's Field Athlete of the Week award.

Schmitz led Redlands to a 101-60 victory over Cal Lutheran and a 96-65 win over La Verne at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 1. Schmitz impressed by snagging first-place finishes in both the High Jump and the Triple Jump. He leaped 5' 8" in the High Jump, before bounding 43' 11.75" in the Triple Jump. His Triple Jump win was nearly a foot further than second place and against a two-mile an hour wind, which was the strongest of the day.
