The University of Redlands track & field teams continued to excel on day two of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with multiple top-eight performances, which result in All-America honors.

Senior Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) initiated the Bulldogs' tremendous outing with her All-America performance in the Shot Put.  With a toss of 47' 3", she capped off her senior season in fourth place at her second national appearance.  Her hardware-earning mark came on her fourth throw of the competition.

Senior Vanessa Blanchard (Vail, AZ) kept things rolling for the Maroon and Gray by repeating as an All-American in the High Jump.  This time, the impressive honor came off a tied-for-sixth-place effort of 5' 6".  She made it all the way to this mark without missing a single jump.

In addition, sophomore Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) made the most of her second national outdoor meet by taking seventh in the Heptathlon to become an All-American in back-to-back years.  She won today's Long Jump competition with a leap of 18' 2 ½" before closing out the day in the Javelin (68' 5 ¼") and the 800 Meters (2:30.15).  She completed all seven events with a score of 4,566, which was just 150 points out of first place.

In today's qualifying action, sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) punched her ticket to her second final by winning her heat in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.60.  She sped away from the pack on the final few hurdles to secure the automatic spot in tomorrow's race.  Fields also looks forward to competing in the 400 Hurdles.

Following a significant weather delay, junior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) took to the track for the 100 Meters.  He uncorked a time of 10.86 to finish third in his heat and sixth overall for another trip to the finals, following his earlier qualification in the 200 Meters.

Late in the day, Kimble also pushed herself to compete in the 100 Meters.  She posted a time of 12.74 to take 20th but missed the cut for Saturday's competition.

First-year Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) ran a solid race in the 800 Meters by crossing the finish line in 1:51.90 for fifth place in the third heat.  Despite posting a better time than the top two from the second heat, he missed the cut for Saturday's final by three spots.  In the 800, the top two from each heat plus the next fastest three advance.

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships wrap up on Saturday, May 26, with the finals of all remaining events taking place throughout the day at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
