Redlands Track & Field Excels in Busy Weekend at NAU and Pomona-Pitzer

The University of Redlands track & field teams enjoyed a busy weekend of competition, with members representing the Bulldogs at the Northern Arizona University Tune-Up Meet and the Collegiate All-Comers at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.  Redlands gained quality results in a variety of events by multiple student-athletes.

At NAU, sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) improved upon her solid mark from early February by clocking a time of 8.87 in the 60 Hurdles to finish fourth overall.  In addition, sophomore Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) shaved off time from two weeks ago by firing off a time of 9.10 to finish sixth overall.

Senior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) took fourth in the High Jump with a height of 5' 5" on her third attempt.  This matched her previous mark from the first indoor meet of the season.

Senior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) impressed in the Pole Vault with a height of 12' ½" for sixth place.  This improved her career-best mark by ¼". 

For the men, junior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) eclipsed the seven-second mark in the 60 Meters by completing the sprint in 6.98 for 11th place.  Senior Afari La-Anyane (Morgan Hill, CA) also ran a faster time in the 60 Hurdles when he crossed the finish line in 8.43 for sixth place. 

Finally, the 4x400 relay of junior Nick Burchett (Gold River, CA), first-year Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO), first-year Domanick Murray (Palm Springs, CA), and sophomore Jordan Washecheck (Tulsa, OK) unleashed a second-place time of 3:24.36.

During Saturday's Collegiate All-Comers meet, senior Justine Keller (Portland, OR) ran a career-best time of 1:00.11 in the 400 Meters, which placed her second in the race. 

Furthermore, first-year Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) finished ninth in the 200 Meters with a blistering time of 26.50, while first-year Brenna Dolen (Redlands, CA) uncorked a leap of 34' 6 ¾" in the Triple Jump for ninth place. Finally, sophomore Katie Gonzalez (San Gabriel, CA) impressed with her heave of 128' 1" in the Hammer Throw to take sixth overall.

On the men's side, first-year Marvin Perkins Jr. (Las Vegas, NV) ran a stunning time of 50.67 in the 400 Meters for seventh place. 

Sophomore Maliq Champion (Beaumont, CA) eclipsed a second-place height of 6' 4 ¾" in the High Jump, while sophomore Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) produced a career-best leap of 44' 3 ½" in the Triple Jump for fourth place.  Junior Matthew Hayashi (Hacienda Heights, CA) registered a distance of 131' 10" in the Hammer Throw for fourth while also earning a fifth-place toss of 43' 3 ¾" in the Shot Put.  First-year Cal Martin (Dayton, WA) shined in the Javelin by recording a mark of 163' 10" for fifth place.

Redlands looks forward to competing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual No. 1 on Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m.  The meet will take place at the Bulldogs' home track but will be hosted by Caltech.
