Memphis Gile named SCIAC Swimmer of the Week

SCIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Weekly Release #12

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Men's Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week in the twelfth week of voting and University of Redlands first-year swimmer Memphis Gile (Redlands, CA) was named the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week for the first time this season.

He becomes the third Bulldog this year to be recognized as an Athlete of the Week joining Lucas Walker (October 18, 2021) and Caleb Crane (November 8, 2021). 

Memphis helped the University of Redlands to a SCIAC dual-meet victory over Chapman (123-55). The first-year swimmer picked up two individual wins and contributed to a winning relay event during the meet. In the 200-yard freestyle, Gile collected a top time of 1:46.88, and then added a winning mark of 48.55 in the 100-yard freestyle. He then capped off his performance helping the 200-yard freestyle relay squad secure a first-place time of 1:29.73. 

Redlands returns to the pool this Saturday, February 5 for their final home meet of 2021-22.  They will host a tri-meet going up against Whittier College and Cal Lutheran University.
