The University of Redlands swimming & diving teams hosted the Concordia University – Irvine Eagles in a non-conference showdown on Friday at the Thompson Aquatic Center.  Despite the excitement of competing at home for the first time since February 8, 2020, the Maroon and Gray women suffered an 89-128 loss and the men fell by a score of 68-133.

Nonetheless, the Bulldogs gained a new pool record in the women's 200 Medley Relay, as junior Courtney Prefontaine (San Clemente, CA), junior Hanna Parker (Seattle, WA), first-year Madison Petschauer (Cary, NC), and junior Sydney Nakagawa (Vancouver, WA) fired off a time of 1:49.53 to win the race.  The speedy quartet bettered the previous pool standard of 1:50.31 that had stood since 2011.

The men's 200 Medley Relay from Redlands also topped the podium, with sophomore Blake Eddow (Corona, CA), senior Eric Forbes (Orange County, CA), first-year Drew Heaston (Corona, CA), and senior Jack McCormick (Santa Rosa, CA) combining forces for a time of 1:37.70.

In addition, the Bulldogs saw sophomore Gabrielle Hayon (Agoura Hills, CA) capture first place in the 1650 Free with a time of 19:29.16.  Junior Madison Southmayd (Anthem, AZ) touched the wall in 1:08.73, which was more than two seconds faster than second place, in the 100 Breast.  Petschauer won the 100 Fly in 58.83 before taking second in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:49.56.

Heaston and senior Rafael Zasas (Johannesburg, South Africa) impressed in the 200 Free by providing a one-two punch with respective times of 1:48.76 and 1:50.55.  McCormick added an event win in the 50 Free by clocking a time of 21.53 and then took second in the 100 Free with a time of 49.21.

In diving, first-year Sydney Patterson (Hilo, HI) earned a score of 221.90 on the one-meter board to win the competition.
