It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands men's and women's swimming & diving teams each received the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honor for success in the classroom during the 2017 spring semester.

For the first time in the 95-year history of the CSCAA more than 700 teams have received Scholar All-America recognition. Both the University of Redlands men's and women's programs were among the plethora of teams being honored.

In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2017 spring semester.

Under the direction of Head Coach Leslie Whittemore, 32 Bulldog men and 24 Bulldog women met the academic requirement, earning respective team GPAs of 3.02 and 3.30.

Along the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Redlands joins Caltech, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, and Whittier College among the recipients for at least one team.

In addition to the teams' success, senior swimmer Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) was honored by the CSCAA as an individual on the Scholar All-America team. Jacques is one of a record-setting 997 swimmers and divers selected by the CSCAA that have achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
