Senior Ellie Jaques Finishes 15th in 200 IM to Open 2017 NCAA Swimming Championships

Senior standout Ellie Jaques (Corona, CA) of the University of Redlands began her final NCAA Division III Swimming Championships on Wednesday at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX.  Today's competition included the 200 Individual Medley for the four-year Bulldog.

Jaques uncorked a time of 2:05.09 during this morning's preliminaries to qualify for the consolation final with her top-16 finish.  This performance was a mere 0.16 off of her lifetime best effort of 2:04.93 and moved her up four spots from her qualifying position of 19th to 15th. 

During Wednesday night's final of the 200 IM, she held her spot at 15th by touching the wall in 2:06.28. By advancing to the consolation final, Jaques becomes an Honorable Mention All-American for the third time in her career.

Jaques continues with the excitement of the NCAA Championships on Thursday when she competes in the 400 IM, which is the third race of the 8 a.m. PT morning session.  She enters that race as the 20th qualifier.
