The University of Redlands swimming & diving teams shook off the holiday rust with a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) meet against the University of La Verne and Occidental College on Saturday at the Thompson Aquatic Center.  With nine first-place showings, the Bulldog women recorded a 140-97 win over the Leopards while defeating the Tigers by a score of 160-70.  The Maroon and Gray men took down La Verne by a score of 131-104 and topped Occidental in a solid 164-67 performance en route to six first-place finishes.

For the women, senior Jessica Kolsky (Red Wing, MN) impressed on both diving boards by notching a pair of first-place scores.  She led the competition with her tally of 222.80 in the one-meter event while registering a winning mark of 233.05 on the three-meter board.

Senior Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) recorded wins in all of her events, starting with the 200 Medley Relay that also included senior Danielle Miller (Hood River, OR), junior Claire Stuhr (Portland, OR), and junior Emily Waddell (Bellevue, WA).  The quartet out-touched the competition with a time of 1:53.56.  Individually, Jaques won the 200 Free with a time of 2:00.28 and the 100 Breast in 1:08.75.

Miller also impressed in the 100 Back with her first-place time of 1:02.63, while Stuhr added a gold-medal showing in the 200 Individual Medley by touching the wall in 2:16.16.  Finally, Waddell reigned supreme in the 50 Free (25.63) and 100 Free (56.00).

For the men, senior Eric Bugna (Vancouver, WA) led the Bulldogs with two individual wins while contributing to a first-place relay. He out-swam the competition in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.83, before taking first in the 100 Fly in 53.60.  He joined forces with senior Will Tyrrell (Portland, OR), freshman Michael Talag (Lakewood, CA), and junior Brian Wright (Kent, WA) for a winning combination in the 400 Free Relay that completed the race in 3:18.56.s

Individually, Wright added a first-place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.75, to go along with a mark of 5:08.30 for second in the 500 Free.

Sophomore Joe Widuch (Naperville, IL) rounded out the swimming event-winners by clocking a time of 55.62 in the 100 Back.

Furthermore, freshman Jacob Miner (Antioch, CA) racked up 263.55 points to win the one-meter diving competition.  He added a second-place mark of 229.50 on the three-meter board.

Redlands looks forward to welcoming Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges to the Thompson Aquatic Center on Saturday, January 14, for a SCIAC meet, beginning with diving at 10 a.m.  Swimming is slated to start at 11 a.m.
