SCIAC Softball Weekly Release No. 2

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Softball Athletes of the Week in the second week of voting and University of Redlands senior outfielder Kalyn Kershner (Ewa Beach, HI) was selected as the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career.

Kershner was crucial in a pair of season-opening doubleheader splits against Whitworth and No. 12 Linfield University for the University of Redlands, batting 7-for-12 with three extra-base hits and eight RBI's. She recorded the tying and game-winning RBI on sacrifice flies as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat the Wildcats in the nightcap after taking them to extra innings in the first game.  The second game of the doubleheader with the Pirates she was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4, scoring twice and driving in five.     

Redlands returns to the diamond next Monday-Tuesday for a three-game series with the University of La Verne to open up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play.  The Bulldogs will host a single game on Monday, February 27 at 2:00pm before traveling to La Verne for a doubleheader on Tuesday, February 28 with game times set for 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
