University of Redlands Softball Releases 2022 Schedule

2022 University of Redlands Softball Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. – University of Redlands Head Softball Coach Jose Ortega officially released his 2022 Schedule Monday.  The defending Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champions will have a full slate this year, which includes 30 home games inside the "Field of Dreams", 19 of which are match-ups against non-conference opponents.

The Bulldogs will jumpstart their 2022 campaign with a double header at home against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, February 12 with first pitches slated for 11:00am and 1:00pm.

In 2021 the Bulldogs were the SCIAC regular season and postseason tournament champions. They went 14-7, 11-1 SCIAC and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Softball Championships for the first time since 2013.

Along with great team success that year, the Maroon and Grey also achieved individual accolades with Coach Ortega and his staff being named the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. UR also had the SCIAC Athlete of the Year and SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in Collette Allen along with the SCIAC Pitcher of the Year in Danielle Stallings. Both Allen and Stallings return for the 2022 season.

Statistically the Bulldogs were strong across all categories. They averaged 6.24 runs/game while posting a batting line of: .307/.392/.460/.852 (Batting Average | On-Base Percentage | Slugging Percentage | On-Base Plus Slugging (OPS)). In the circle Redlands had a 2.57 earned run average (ERA) with an opponent's batting average of .262. Then in the field the Bulldogs made only 19 errors across their 21 games.
