Bulldog Men’s Water Polo Garners 11 ACWPC All-Academic Awards

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) published the 2016 Men's All-Academic Awards list for individuals over three categories of scholarly success based on GPA, including outstanding (4.0-3.71), superior (3.70-3.41), and excellent (3.40-3.21), as well as team awards for combined marks at 3.00 or above. Amongst all the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) programs, the University of Redlands men's water polo squad donned the second-most student-athletes with an incredible 11 honorees while also receiving team recognition.

Senior goalkeeper Chris Sekula (LaGrange, IL), senior center-defender Mark Zikov (La Quinta, CA), sophomore center-defender Sean Todd (Highland, CA), and sophomore center-defender Mitchell Walker (Taylorsville, UT) each landed among the "outstanding" recipients for their impressive academic achievement. This marks the fourth-consecutive honor in the outstanding category for Sekula and Zikov, while Walker receives his second-consecutive such accolade.

The majority of Redlands' honorees received "superior" selection, with senior driver Kyle Murata (Brea, CA), senior driver Brandon Yee (Pacifica, CA), junior center-defender Max Taylor (Henderson, NV), freshman driver Kyle Jackson (Naperville, IL), freshman driver Reece Koe (Camarillo, CA), and freshman driver Bryce Hurick (Exeter, CA) each collecting this award. This is Yee's second-consecutive "superior" accolade, while Murata moved up from last year's "excellent" honor to join the "superior" range.

Senior driver Zac Polmanteer (Long Beach, CA) rounded out the Bulldogs' academic distinctions for his fourth-consecutive honor in the "excellent" category.

Furthermore, Redlands is one of 27 programs to be acknowledged by the ACWPC for achieving a combined GPA of 3.00 or higher as a team.
