The University of Redlands men's water polo team took to the road for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against the Caltech Beavers on Wednesday afternoon.  The Bulldogs erupted for a 6-1 showing in the first quarter to eventually run away with the 22-6 victory.

The Maroon and Gray unleashed four-straight goals to start the game, with senior center-defender Danny Hartwig (Vista, A) supplying two, and freshman driver Austin Kent (Redlands, CA) and sophomore center-defender Sean Todd (Highland, CA) each providing one.  Redlands' offense continued to fire on all cylinders, as freshman driver Spencer Allen (Long Beach, CA) and sophomore driver Ty Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) each scored once before the end of the opening frame for their team's 6-1 lead.

By the end of the second quarter, the Bulldogs held a comfortable 11-2 advantage and never looked back.  Williams and junior center-defender Max Taylor (Henderson, NV) initiated this lucrative period, before freshman driver Kyle Jackson (Naperville, IL) and Allen fired off back-to-back scores for the Maroon and Gray.  Allen added to his already impressive showing with his third goal of the game late in the second stanza.

Redlands doubled its offensive output in the subsequent quarters, with freshman Carter Kerwin (Bakersfield, CA) converting a penalty shot and freshman driver Blake Burney (Las Vegas, NV) scoring twice.

Allen finished with a team-high four goals, while six others scored twice.

Redlands (14-10, 3-0 SCIAC) strives to keep it rolling on Saturday, October 29, when it travels to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for an 11 a.m. contest against the Sagehens.
