Senior Ryan Floersch Gains ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America Accolades

It was announced earlier today that senior water polo player/swimmer Ryan Floersch (San Jose, CA) of the University of Redlands landed on the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America At-Large Second Team for the College Division.

This marks the third such honor for the Bulldogs during the 2009-10 campaign, following awards for senior football player Brian Putman (Bakersfield, CA) and graduate student baseball player Brett Sandford (Santa Barbara, CA). Overall, Redlands has gained 19 CoSIDA Academic All-America nods.

Earlier this year, Floersch was named the Frank Serrao Senior Student-Athlete of the Year at the University of Redlands.

Boasting a 3.528 cumulative GPA as a Business Administration major, Floersch has twice earned Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Men's All-Academic distinction and is a three-time Redlands Scholar-Athlete.

In addition, his accolades extend to the pool, with Floersch establishing himself as the top men's water polo player among NCAA Division III programs. Following an outstanding 2009 campaign, he received ACWPC NCAA Division III Player of the Year honors, supplementing his 2009 SCIAC Men's Water Polo Player of the Year citation. During the 2009 season, he set the single-season and career program records in ejections drawn while guiding the program to its eighth SCIAC championship.

Floersch also lent his talents to the swimming & diving team and received All-America Honorable Mention laurels as a member of the men's 400 medley relay at the 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

Floersch was eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America accolade after earning First-Team All-District honors on May 20.
