ORLANDO, Fla. – Nils Plutat (Sauerlach, Bavaria, Germany) and Bryce Keim (Spartanburg, S.C.) of the University of Redlands got the NCAA Division III Individual Championships in doubles underway Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.

The pairing who were both named All-SCIAC this year, while at the same time ranking as the No. 1 team in the West Region fought in their opening round against Ryan Glanville and Charlie James of Emory University.

Plutat and Keim gave the No. 1 team from the Atlantic South Region all they could handle.  The Bulldogs were broken once in the opening set 6-4, but managed to storm back to level the match at a set apiece following a late break at 7-5.  In the third they fell behind 4-0 quickly before falling 6-1.

On the year Plutat and Keim finished with a 14-4 record together, which included a 6-1 mark within SCIAC competition.  Entering the Championships they had also won ten of their last eleven.
