REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Tennis team picked up their second straight win Saturday morning beating Grinnell College 7-2 inside the Verdieck Tennis Center improving to 6-4, 1-0 SCIAC.

The Bulldogs picked up the sweep in doubles giving them momentum and they carried it into singles play taking four of six.  Nils Plutat (Sauerlach, Bavaria, Germany) and Bryce Keim (Spartanburg, S.C.) continue to prove why they are one of the best duos in Division III rolling 8-2 at the top spot.  First-years Josh Davydov (Bellevue, WA) and Luca Davidorf (Atlanta, GA) needed a breaker to pull out the second point winning 8-7 (7) at No. 3.  The last point came at No. 2 and Stefan Hester (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) and Jack Mattox (Mercer Island, WA) needed to grind as they would break late to pick up the sweep for UR 8-6.

Hester kept the momentum going for the Maroon and Grey picking up a quick point at No. 2 winning 6-3, 6-0 and Keim followed at No. 3 with the clinch cruising to the 6-0, 6-2 decision moving the score to 5-0.  Plutat kept the run going with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 and Davydov who was put into the lineup at No. 5 would pull out a three-setter winning 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 giving Redlands their seventh point on the day.

Grinnell broke the streak at No. 4 as Mattox would get edged in a breaker.  He dropped the opening set 6-3 but battled back with a 6-4 win in the second only to fall 10-4 in the breaker.  The last match on was at No. 6 from Davidorf who also went the distance and he too would drop in a third.  He won the opening set 6-4 but could not keep it going as he would drop the next two 6-4, 10-1 allowing Grinnell to pick up their second point.

A side note regarding Grinnell Head Coach, Zack Hasenyager, he is a graduate from the University of Redlands '08 and coached with the Bulldogs from 2012-14.

Redlands returns to the court next Wednesday, March 29 when they host UC Santa Cruz in a big Division III West Regional match-up beginning at 5:00pm.
