SCIAC Tennis Weekly Release No. 5

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Tennis Athletes of the Week in the fifth week of voting and University of Redlands sophomore Stefan Hester (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) was named the SCIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

Hester helped lead the University of Redlands Men's Tennis team to victories over No. 18 University of Mary Washington (5-4), and No. 25 Christopher Newport (6-3). Hester earned a pair of singles wins playing No. 1 for the Bulldogs, which included a 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(4) victory over the No. 9 ranked singles player in Division III, which clinched the match against Mary Washington.  He then followed that performance up with a straight sets win 6-4, 6-1 against Christopher Newport.    

Over the two matches he also played No. 1 doubles in both contests as he and partner Andrew Yip lost both matches in tight sets, 8-7 (3) and 8-7 (5). 

Redlands gets back to the courts, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 9 when they host Vassar College beginning at 3:00pm.
