We Love R Seniors - Men's and Women's Tennis

The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics would like to take a moment to celebrate the one women's tennis and two men's tennis seniors whose spring season was sadly cut short due to the swiftly changing conditions of the current time.

First, we honor a four-year competitor on the Redlands women's tennis team. With her relentless work ethic and steady perseverance, she increased her role on the team every year from the No. 6 slot to competing as high as No. 1 in singles and doubles in her junior and senior years. She also consistently helped the team to a Top-40 ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In 2019 she was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team. Earlier this season, this competitor helped the No. 34 Bulldogs upset No. 21 Caltech in the first match in conference action with a dominant 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. This senior impresses in the classroom as well and was named to the SCIAC All-Academic Team in 2016-17 and the ITA All-Academic team in all three years so far. She is set to graduate with a degree in Psychology and Biology, hailing from Palm Desert, Jackie Lacy!

Lacy is also this week's SCIAC Friday Feature, please head to the conference website to read the full release.

The next senior significantly helped the Bulldog men's tennis team to their highest ITA ranking since 2018, taking the No. 18 spot to begin this year. His biggest win came in the 2018-19 season against in-region opponent, No. 19 Whitman College (WA). The team gained a 2-1 lead through doubles before this senior gave them a 3-1 lead after his No. 2 singles win. After the completion of the conference season, he was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team. From nearby Claremont, planning to graduate with a degree in Philosophy, Andrew Leahy!

The final senior is also a four-year contributor to the men's tennis team. In 2018-19, he and teammate Brysl Libao competed at the NCAA Individual Championships and then made it to the quarterfinals of the national tournament to earn All-America status for an impressive first appearance. In the 2019-20 season, they returned to the national stage after winning the Men's Open Doubles Champions at the ITA West Regional. This senior became an All-American for the second time in his career and qualified for the ITA National Championships. He finished his final fall season as the No. 2 doubles duo in NCAA Division III. Most recently, he was named SCIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after winning doubles and singles against No. 36 Washington and Lee (VA). This senior studied Business Administration and is from Palm Desert, Brad Cummins!

Congratulations, Bulldog seniors!  On behalf of the University community, the Bulldog tennis program, and the Athletics Department, we thank you for your commitment and involvement as Bulldogs for Life.  We wish you all the best!
