It was announced earlier today that first-year Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) of the University of Redlands was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for February 12-18.

He joins senior catcher Rainier Aguilar (San Bernardino, CA) of the Bulldog baseball team among this week's honorees.

This hometown Bulldog contributed to Redlands' victories over Colorado College and Occidental College in a busy Saturday on Verdieck Courts.  In doubles, Libao teamed up with junior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) at the top slot and earned a pair of 8-2 wins.  Libao also competed in singles at No. 5, earning two shutouts (6-0, 6-0) in an impressive performance, with his match against Colorado clinching the overall win for the 11th-ranked Bulldog men's tennis team.

So far this season, Libao owns a 4-0 singles mark and a 4-1 doubles record.

Redlands (4-1, 1-0 SCIAC) heads to Saint Paul, MN, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships, which begin on Friday, February 23, and continue through Sunday, February 25.  The Bulldogs face No. 6 Washington University of St. Louis (MO) in Friday's match.
