Bulldog Sophomore Chase Lipscomb Named SCIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

It was announced on Monday that sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) of the University of Redlands was tabbed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his impressive showing last week.

This is the Bulldogs' second such honor in men's tennis, following senior Parker Wilson's (Carlsbad, CA) accolade from the week of February 27.

More recently, Lipscomb led the Maroon and Gray to three non-conference wins, including the final one that gave Head Coach Geoff Roche his 300th in men's tennis.  Lipscomb went undefeated in singles and doubles, notching six points for the Bulldogs over the busy week.

As the No. 1 singles player for the 18th-ranked Bulldogs, he knocked off opponents from No. 29 Swarthmore College (PA), No. 27 Christopher Newport University (VA), and No. 21 University of Mary Washington (VA).  He and teammate, Brad Cummins, also put together a perfect week in doubles, as highlighted by Redlands' only doubles victory against CNU en route to the team's 7-2 result.

The Bulldogs also won by scores 6-3 over Swarthmore and 8-1 against Mary Washington.

Redlands (7-1) faces No. 11 Wesleyan University (CT) on Friday, March 17, at 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
