The No. 18 University of Redlands men's tennis team continued to roll on Friday with a 7-2 victory over the visiting Captains of No. 27 Christopher Newport University (VA) on Verdieck Courts. Despite going down 1-2 through the doubles, the Bulldogs impressed in the singles matches by taking all six, with five coming in straight sets.

Sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and freshman Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) started things off well for the Bulldogs by cruising to an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles slot.

However, CNU immediately responded with back-to-back victories at the remaining two matches.

Down 1-2, Redlands faced a small uphill battle in singles but came out firing with five first-set wins.  From here, the Bulldogs refused to let up, as senior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) secured a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.  Junior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) followed suit with his 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot, before senior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) put Redlands up by a score of 4-2 by defeating his No. 4 opponent, 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Avery Davis (Jensen Beach, FL) officially put this one in the books by rallying back for a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6.

In addition, senior Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA) prevailed at No. 5 in a 6-1, 6-0 decision, while Lipscomb orchestrated a sweet comeback at the top slot with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 effort.

Redlands (6-1) welcomes the No. 21 University of Mary Washington (VA) to Verdieck Courts on Saturday, March 11, for a 12 noon match.
